"RED" - THE BUZZOS . (Sep 2018 Maldito Records.)

"Red" desprende un singular aire fresco de banda veterana, a lo Cheap Trick, suena pegadizo como algún estribillo de los mismísimos QOTSA y sí, al igual que los stoner afirman que eran más de los Kyuss, a muchos también les quedara decir que éramos más de los primeros discos de The Buzzos, pero corear el " if you want me " del “Running To You" o tararear "Red" no tienen por qué borrar del recuerdo, que llegamos hasta ellos por "Glory Days" o por “Lonely boy”. Por si acaso nos dejan perlas como la inicial " You wanna take ", donde las poderosas guitarras de Diego Leone (A.K.A Dean Demon), la brutal batería de Fernan Benítez, el demoledor bajo de Juan Antonio Sánchez y la siempre sorprendente voz de Sean “Flecha” Swindle anuncian al escuchante recién llegado, donde se esta metiendo. Así, en ese orden.
“Black soul” nos recuerdan que The Buzzos a parte de ser los “Reyes sin corona” de nuestro rock´n´roll patrio, son los reyes en componer buenas melodías y grandes estribillos. Después de “Red”, tema que habla de su extinto santuario, un bar que les hizo tal como son, aparece”Girl u want”, cover de los siempre insuficientemente reivindicados Devo, a la que le han dado una vuelta de tuerca que le sienta muy bien.
“The Wildest Ones” es probablemente la canción más dura que han compuesto The Buzzos, con tintes stoner, pero sin dejar de sonar a ellos mismos. “Shut up” es otro trallazo rítmico, aunque realmente todo ha sido compuesto así, para ser tocado en directo y provocar movimiento. “Ready to punch” es otra gran sorpresa respecto al sonido y manera de componer los temas en la banda. Por último, aparecen los dos temas más cercanos a lo que siempre han sido The Buzzos: “Bored”, donde pareciera que ha sido el mismo Steve Jones quien se ha encargado de las guitarras y “Crazy Lover”, donde vuelve a aparecer ese High Energy Rock´n´roll que siempre ha estado ahí.

Está trabajado, va tan medido que se sitúa en ese fino y reservadísimo segmento en el que tus fans te siguen respetado y las masas comienzan a consumirte. Y eso habitualmente solo pasa por dos vías. La rápida, tras una campaña de marketing camuflada con la sintonía de un anuncio de refrescos, o con paciencia, talento y actitud.

Si les hubiese sucedido lo primero tampoco hubiese pasado nada, pero no pasó o no ha pasado, nunca se sabe, de lo que estamos seguros es que The Buzzos tras mas de quince años, han tenido la calma y aptitud necesaria para recorrer el único camino digno de llegar al mainstream, respetando las premisas de los legendarios rockeros, por eso se les permite irse a un lado menos crudo y mas pegadizo, que mantiene la esencia y les sitúa en la casilla de salida, para recorrer el largo camino hacia la cima que por el setenta y siete nos cantaba Bon Scott. Con "Red" The Buzzos han regresado, sin haberse marchado nunca.
